Our Speaker:
Craig Russell will be our All Church Camp speaker this year. He is a hometown boy from Los Alamos who was raised in The United Church. He is also an award winning music professor at California Polytechnic Institute since 1982. A master performer on both the guitar and lute, Professor Russell is a music historian and composer. One of his major accomplishments was the “decoding” of Baroque period Mexican church music, which has resulted in its performance by nationally known groups, such as Chanticleer. Professor Russell’s expertise in Mexican music, especially sacred music, will be shared with us during All Church Camp in September. Exploring Mission Music of California, Mexico, and the American Southwest, the working title for his presentation, will be filled with live music and other special effects and will stimulate and engage listeners of all ages.
