May of 2003, another group went to Guatemala to check on the progress

In
November of 2002, 4 individuals went to Guatemala to check on the
status of a Rotary water project that is to be funded by the New
Mexico Rotary clubs of Espanola, Los Alamos, and Rio Rancho, the
club of
Kingston, New York and the Guatemala City Rotary club. The 4 individuals
were Deborah Simon and Ivan Guillen of the Espanola club and Larry Campbell
of
the Los Alamos club and his wife Kathy. See pictures from the trip.
Los
Alamos Rotary involved itself in many fire recovery efforts after
the devastation of the fire of May 2000. Shown at left are members
putting up fences at "FEMAville" for temporary residents
who lost their homes, and at right is one of our members engaged

Los
Alamos Rotary pieced together a grant including funding from
the Rotary Foundation, LANL Foundation, local Club funds, and
others to purchase a new van for transportation to and from the
many quality-of-life activities of sombrillo residents.
